The Challenge

Previously, Supawood's workflow was a lengthy, manual process that could take months to complete. It involved extensive back-and-forth communication with clients to finalize designs, followed by weeks of internal work to create drawings and files for manufacturing. This extended timeline created friction in the sales process and delayed project delivery.

The Solution

I engineered and delivered a comprehensive solution that bridges the gap between client creativity and manufacturing efficiency. The "Concept Creator" is a web-based, parametric 3D tool that empowers architects and designers to visualize their ideas in real-time.

Key features of the application include:

• Precise Customization: Users can upload custom polyline shapes to define the exact footprint of their ceiling installation, ensuring a perfect fit for any space.

• Real-time Parametric Control: A wide variety of parameters allows for detailed adjustments to the design, with every change instantly reflected in the 3D model.

• Automated Documentation: With a single click, the user receives an email containing a 3D model and a detailed PDF with project specifications, including cost estimations and fire group ratings.

• Seamless Workflow Integration: Simultaneously, the Supawood sales team receives the complete configuration data. I developed an internal workflow that allows this data to be plugged directly into their systems, automating the generation of production-ready drawings and files.

The Technology

The core of the configurator is a sophisticated parametric model built with Grasshopper3D, which is made accessible online through the ShapeDiver platform. The front-end is a sleek, custom-built user interface developed with TypeScript, interacting seamlessly with the ShapeDiver API to provide a fluid and intuitive user experience.

By automating the entire workflow from initial design to final delivery, the project lifecycle has been dramatically reduced from months to a matter of days.
